Beliefs

Christ Centered.

It all begins and ends with Jesus. (Rev. 22:13) That is why we are committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all of life.
  1. God created man to have a personal relationship with Him, but Adam, who represented all mankind, sinned against God.
  2. Because of Adam's sin man is born sinful, and thus is separated from God. Our relationship with God is broken.
  3. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man.
  4. For us to be reconciled to God, we must turn from our sins and turn toward Christ. We must put our faith in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Only then can you have a personal relationship with Christ.

Reformed.

At WEPC, we embrace Reformed Christian theology with open arms. Beginning with Martin Luther and continuing with John Calvin and Jonathan Edwards, we uphold the Doctrines of Grace as seen in God's Word. We find great comfort in the sovereignty and providence of God, and desire to give God all the glory for saving wretches like us. Also, we firmly adhere to the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation.

Doctrines of Grace
  1. Total Depravity: Man is radically depraved (sinful to the root). Every aspect of his being is affected by sin.
  2. Unconditional Election: Man is spiritually dead, and the only remedy lies outside of him. God's eternal decree is to save some of the human race in and by Jesus Christ.
  3. Definite Atonement: Christ's atoning work secures the salvation of specific sinners--God's elect--and is part of God's eternal plan.
  4. Irresistible Grace: The Holy Spirit extends to the elect a special inward call that inevitably brings them to salvation.
  5. Perseverance of the Saints: God preserves all who are truly regenerate (saved) until the end of their life.

Five Solas
  1. Sola Fide, by faith alone
  2. Sola Scriptura, by Scripture alone
  3. Solus Christus, Christ alone
  4. Sola Gratia, by grace alone
  5. Soli Deo Gloria, to God alone be the glory
